"I enjoy being a bitch. I enjoy being surrounded by bitches. Boredom is the biggest disease in the world, darling. Sometimes I think there must be more to life than rushing round the world like a mad thing getting bored."

"Excess is part of my nature. Dullness is a disease."
"Once we played at a theatre in New York with Mott the Hoople and this particular person wrote that she noticed when I did a costume change, that I changed even my shoes and socks. She also added that she was so close to me she could tell what religion I was, and that I wasn’t wearing any knickers!"

"My favourite memory of him is that very first concert at Hammersmith Odeon. My boy was showing the best of himself as support to Mott the Hoople. When the show was over people came over to me and my husband and said it was nice that we supported him. I said simply: ‘Well, he is my son.’ Rock and roll was not my lifestyle, but I said I would attend every concert. It was very exciting for me. It was 1973 and he always used to dress flamboyantly. But I used to tell him to have his hair cut short as it was long. He said ‘No, no mum, that is the way I am. But when short hair came into fashion he said: ‘You see I’ve had it cut short. I did it’."
“We’re confident people will take to us, because although the camp image has already been established by people like Bowie and Bolan we are taking it to another level. The concept of Queen is to be regal and majestic. Glamour is part of us and we want to be dandy. We want to shock and be outrageous instantly.” - Freddie Mercury

"The reason we’re successful, darling? My overall charisma, of course…."

"I have fun with my clothes onstage; it’s not a concert you’re seeing, it’s a fashion show. I dress to kill, but tastefully. My nail polish? I used to use Biba, now I use Miners. One coat goes on really smooth."

"This album is dedicated to my cat Jerry - also Tom, Oscar and Tiffany, and all the cat lovers across the universe - screw everybody else!"

"Following the enormous conjecture in the press over the last two weeks, I wish to confirm that I have been tested HIV positive and have AIDS. I felt it correct to keep this information private to date to protect the privacy of those around me. However, the time has come now for my friends and fans around the world to know the truth and I hope that everyone will join with my doctors and all those worldwide in the fight against this terrible disease. My privacy has always been very special to me and I am famous for my lack of interviews. Please understand this policy will continue."

"I was initially going to be on Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”! Can you imagine that? Blew it!"

Hello there -
I’m writing to you from my bed because I can’t be bothered to get up today as it is raining buckets outside, and to be honest I’m suffering from a humongous hangover!
I have taken up a bad habit (smoking) - because everyone around us has constantly been smoking for the last few years - so as John would say, ‘If You Can’t Beat ‘Em - Join Them’ - People say it will affect my voice but that’s a load of bull! I hope to be in fighting form for the next album which we begin recording at the end of June ‘81 in Munich.
By the way hope you all enjoyed Roger’s solo effort as much as I did -.
O.K. it’s time I crawled out of bed - and here’s hoping for some sunny weather -
Have fun!
Lots of love -,
Freddie
